8 extraordinary stories in Le Petit Tennis land

 

Story 1

Forehand Volley

 
Crocodile Hunter

The Hunter is looking for Crocodiles, but the Crocodiles are hiding behind the bush. Find them!

Crocodiles bend down under the net to hide from the hunters.  The hunters say, “Go crocodile”; crocodiles stand up; the hunters toss ball underhand to the crocodiles racket who hold  racket like a stop sign; the crocodiles hit the ball; and hid again.

 

Story 2

Serve & Forehand Volley

Kangaroo Volley

Kangaroo wants to play tennis w/you & hops  over the bushes to the net to hit a volley & then hops back behind their bushes.

 

The child “kangaroo” starts to hop from far line to line next to net & hits a forehand volley. Toss ball underhand only when “kangaroo” gets to net.

 

 

Story 3

Forehand Groundstroke & Serve

Ice Cream Scooper

Tell Ice Cream man what flavor you want . He is going to scoop it to you. Catch it  on cone & eat it.

 

Feet on “skateboard”; drop ball inside the hoop & then “scoop” it over net w/ racket.  Other player must get it in the “ice cream cone” - use cone or bucket.

 

Story 4

Dynamic Forehand & Serve

The Hunters and the Rabbits

Hunters are looking for Rabbits who are hopping on other side of net. If ball touches the Rabbits, they freeze for 3 seconds.

Use sponge balls. Rabbits stand behind line of cones at a safe distance from net.

 

 

Story 5

Backhand Volley

The Kiss Volley (Backhand)

The Horsey tosses  a ball to the Flamingo and  Flamingo hits the ball & makes a kissing sound.  What does a kiss sound like? 

Child tosses the ball underhand to backhand volley of partner.

 

Story 6

Backhand Groundstroke

Samurai Pandy

The Samurai Pandy escaped from the Tokyo Zoo to play tennis with his friend, the Doggy.   Each time Pandy hits a ball Doggy tosses, Pandy says “Bonzai!”

Have the child stand on  snowboard in backhand position & toss the ball to backhand.  Child must hit after the bounce.

 

Story 7

Forehand & Backhand Groundstroke

 
Jail - London Tower

The mean coach is putting the kids in jail.  Whoever stays out of jail at the end wins!

Coach feeds balls.  If child misses shot, child goes to jail on coach’s side. Child can get out of jail by catching someone else’s ball after 1-2 bounces.  Last ‘free’ person wins.

Story 8

Rally

Hockey Tennis

There has been a huge snowstorm in London and the River Thames has frozen over.  Let’s have some fun and play hockey on the ice!

The child “kangaroo” starts to hop from far line to line next to net & hits a forehand volley. Toss ball underhand only when “kangaroo” gets to net.
